My submission for 's contest..... to design a Kreature. They're uhh.. they're cool collectible fightable monsters, go check it out. He's the Steven J Gould of monster battling, or whatever.
this is kinda based on that brittle star that has calcite crystals acting as one giant compound eye on its whole body. The original design was shaped more like a dinosaur/humanoid/xenomorph with tons of tentacles.. I started over with a more alien body that's not so... vertebrate-like.

OVerview:
Invertebrate hermaphroditic 'mindless squishy thing' (this phylum apparently hasn't been named?)
In addition to its 3 prominent crystal eyes, 2 of which can aim in any direction, its body is covered in numerous smaller crystal eyes that each work as a single lens of a compound eye. This makes it very difficult to sneak up on, which is good as it can't move very quickly. Even in darkness, it can sense its surroundings fairly well in water, using its sensitive tentacles. Reproduction can result either from sexual or asexual fertilization, with eggs usually numbering around 50.
Basic Powers/Weapons:
Melee:
On land it can't move very well, but the lack of buoyancy allows it to smother smaller kreatures with its soft bulk. Prolonged contact with its skin causes itching and irritation, due to numerous microscopic nematocysts. Otherwise it's physically unimpressive.
If an opponent was stupid enough to wander into its mouth, the crystal teeth would give it a good shredding, up to and including severing a limb that lacks sufficient armor plating.
Bioelectricity:
Electrophores at the tip of each tentacle can generate enough electricity to deliver a severe and disabling shock, but this effect can't travel far, so it has to deliver an electric squishy bear-hug. With proper training and focus, it can learn to project an electric field (beams connecting each tentacletip) with limited energy-blocking ability.
Regeneration:
As long as its crystal eyes, and the miniature brains behind them, are intact; Systello can regenerate almost infinitely from physical damage. Each eye will regenerate a miniature one-eyed version, and these will seek each other out in order to rejoin into one. The regeneration process uses up a lot of energy, though, and this can render it unable to continue fighting if used more than a handful of times.
Cold Beam:
This technique fires a stream of microscopic crystals at the opponent in a thin beam. These slow down all molecules around them, causing instant cold. Its range is quite long, but a single blast can't 'freeze solid' any Kreature much larger than a foot and a half tall.

Vision: 9
Hearing: 2
Taste: 6
Smell: 6
Touch: 8
Disposition: Generally placid. Its mood is quite hard to read, attacks are preluded not by a rear-back or a roar, but with a blank stare.
Diet: Systello will place almost anything in its mouth, carefully determine whether it contains organic material, and consume that which does. When feeling particularly energetic, fully-grown systello can be seen shoveling icthyoid after electrocuted icthyoid into their mouths.
Habitat: Largest numbers are found in the oceans around Kroodaka. Outside of cold waters, which they resist well, systello tend to get outcompeted. Though able to stand ocean temperatures below freezing, famine has been known to cause some to climb onto ice floes and allow themselves to freeze solid, surviving in stasis for decades until the floe drifts south and melts.
Strengths: Systello can take damage like few others, shrugging off wounds that would be disabling or lethal to vertebrate Kreatures. It's also very difficult to distract, confuse, or sneak up on, largely due to its simple nervous system and extensive array of sensory organs.
Weaknesses: Only able to drift, float, swim, and shuffle along the ground; it's not hard to outmaneuver a systello. Also, due to its water-rich body, it's quite vulnerable to energy attacks, or heat (on land).

Yeah I think blobbish is good sea anemones are echinoderms too, if I'm not mistaken... so that's suit it ^^
